The Main Stuff

LEGO BIONICLE - Re: The Quest for the Mask will be an open-world action platformer with puzzles. The player must play as the six Toa, and explore the island of Mata Nui. They must collect six Great Masks for EACH Toa, and the player can collect six Noble Masks if they wish to do so. I'm basically doing what the unreleased game LEGO BIONICLE - The Legend of Mata Nui didn't. The player will have to use the powers of the masks, as well as the characters' own elemental powers, to battle creatures known as rahi of many sorts, and solving puzzles and riddles. And in the end, the Toa must face the evil that threatens the island and its inhabitants. That evil is the Makuta. And he is clever. The Toa will face many dangers along their quest, but whether they succeed or fail is up to you.

Why am I doing this, you ask?

Good question. You see, I used to be (and maybe still am, I'm not sure) a fan of what was once called BIONICLE, a series of constructible action figures created by LEGO, particularly the first year of the storyline. It was a story of heroes whose destiny was to awaken a being known as the Great Spirit, or Mata Nui. There were six biomechanical heroes, and each had powers over their respective element. Tahu, Toa of Fire. Gali, Toa of Water. Lewa, Toa of Air. Onua, Toa of Earth. Pohatu, Toa of Stone. And my personal favorite, Kopaka, Toa of Ice. They had great power, but it was not enough. They needed to collect various masks, called kanohi, which granted them special powers. They had to find the masks and triumph over evil.

Anyway, I haven't heard about BIONICLE in years. One day, I was pondering about ideas for a game I wanted to make, because I didn't know what the game was going to be about. Then, I noticed some of the figures on my shelf. The sight of them brought back good memories. And an idea. I hurried to my cabinet where I keep all of my notebooks, and sure enough, I found the ideas I had written down about a BIONICLE video game back when I didn't know how to develop games. Then, I started playing the old video games LEGO had released. In the past, I thought they were the best. But now, I'm disappointed by the astonishing lack of detail. I thought that I could do better. Then it hit me. "Hey! I know how to make video games! I will make my own BIONICLE game! Only BETTER!"

Now you know why.

Welcome!

Hello! I am making my own computer game. It will be called LEGO BIONICLE - Re: The Quest for the Masks. This blog was created for me to show my progress and to explain all of my ideas for the game. Once completed, it will be my first computer game, and I will distribute it for free! It is basically the first year of the BIONICLE storyline put into a video game. Why I'm making a BIONICLE game I will explain at a later time. In the meantime, I will be posting my progress as soon as I make some.

By the way, I do not own the BIONICLE stuff, including the storyline and characters. They are the property of LEGO. I am simply making a game for the entertainment of the players without asking for a payment in return.

And one last thing. This is my first blog post. How did I do?
